Vlipsy is teaming up with Skype to help power more expressive messaging. It’s now easier than ever for Skype users to send a “vlip” — a fun video clip that’s been trimmed to work in conversations.

Skype is one of the world’s leading communication platforms, with hundreds of millions of users chatting and sharing video calls. It’s a favorite destination for professional and personal communication alike, both of which are enhanced by more expressive chat tools.

Video for expression

Sending a fun, timely clip is a sure-fire way to delight an audience. Whether Skype users are chatting with clients or messaging their loved ones, video makes for more engaging communication.

When “Hi” is replaced with a fun clip — perhaps a friendly wave with an enthusiastic “Hello!” — it creates a shared moment of joy and establishes a welcoming atmosphere. A “thumbs up” or “thank you” clip featuring a beloved TV character feels infinitely more human than simply typing out “sounds good.”

Vlipsy aims to provide the perfect clip for any situation. Our library holds clips from movies, TV, sports, video games and random internet videos. They’re all tagged so that users can find the right scene, sentiment, or character at the exact moment it fits into their conversation.

“For times when words or emoticons just aren’t enough, you can express yourself with Mojis in your instant messages. Working with Vlipsy, we’ve just updated the content, bringing you expressive clips from some of your favourite cartoons including Morph, Bravest Warriors and Molang.” said Sam Cundall, Principal Designer at Microsoft.

Bringing world class content

Vlipsy works with leading brands and creators, taking their content into conversations at scale. It’s a form of content marketing that feels natural, intuitive and which users love.

Brand content becomes a source of connection when it’s shared conversationally. Rather than interrupting social feeds or annoying viewers, it becomes a basis for shared emotion. People engage with the content and choose to share it with friends, presenting brands with a natural way to enter the conversation and showcase their personality.

Working with Skype, we’ve brought together content from several amazing Vlipsy partners, including Frederator Studios, Aardman Animation, Millimages, and Guru Studios.

Additional brand partners include M&M’s, Avocados from Mexico, Game Show Network, the World Wildlife Fund, Cut.com, HiHo Kids, and Bumble.

How it works
